Friends not Food

Get over and read this article from the Horn Book on children’s books and vegetarianism by Jennifer Armstrong.

You know these cute little animals?

Of course you do.  And you love them.  And you tell kids to love them.  And then you serve dead versions to them for dinner.  Kind of weird, right?

Now, I am not saying that Armstrong’s argument is a primo reason to become vegetarian.  I can give you a hefty little list of more important reasons to sacrifice your meat intake but she has an interesting point (whether it is a good motivator to give up meat…I don’t know) but maybe it would be in the top thirty of my list.

Just things to ponder while you are sitting on the train.
